The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu/Judo club went to the Indiana Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy tournament on November 16, 2009. "Our team had its best showing of nine competitors, many of which placed in their devision," said club president Travis Poulton. Individuals who placed were Matt Love who recieved gold in the light heavy weight blue belt division. Kevin Buntin who achieved gold in the unlimited blue belt division and the unlimited no gi advanced gi division. Travis Poulton who recieved silver in the intermediate no gi divison. Russell Whatley who recieved a silver medal in the white belt middle weight division. Then there was Shawn Saddler, Erik Bluhm, Matt Heppler, Alex Isbill, and Mitchell Michael who competed well but fell short of the medal rounds. All participants competed to their full potential and it was the first time competing for many of the WKU club members. Overall they gave a great effort and left with many awards that day.

Weekend Wrap Up
Hello WKU Sport Club fans! I hope everyone had a great weekend and is getting ready for Thanksgiving. Over the past weekend we had the Badminton Tournament in the Preston Center on Friday and Saturday. The Men's Rugby club hosted the University of Kentucky at Ephram White Park and the Women's Rugby Club went on the road to play Middle Tennessee State University down in Murfreesboro, TN on Saturday.
The first event was the Badminton Tournament. This was the Badminton Club's first event of the year and everything went great. They had 20+ participants turn out and on Friday was the singles bracket with Alexander Brindley winning the men's division and Zin Ple Kurlawala taking the women's tournament. On Saturday they hosted the Mixed Doubles Tournament where Alexander Brindley and Sang Sei Bai would end up winning the event.
On Saturday the Men's Rugby club ended up losing to U.K. The score was 24 to 19. The men put in a good effort but came up short. The women also lost 17 to 15 however, they put in a great effort as well. The Women's Rugby Club kept MTSU from scoring after thier first two tries until the last thirty seconds of the game.
All the clubs played great over the past weekend. This weekend there will be no activities going on due to Thanksgiving Break. We will see everyone when you get back. Have a safe and happy holiday!

Women's Soccer Club Review
Last Saturday on November 14, 2009 the Women's Soccer Club played Bellarmine University at the Hattie L. Preston Intramural Sports Complex. At the end of the half Bellarmine was up 1-0. As the girls went into the second half Morgan Hovis scored the tying goal, ending the game with a score of 1-1.

Women Soccer November- 14, 2009
SHE SHOOTS AND SHE SCORES!!! The crowd is going crazy! Who is the crowd...? You are! and this weekend, November 14, 2009 the Women's Soccer Club will be hosting an event at the Hattie L. Preston Intramural Sports Complex. Come out and Support the Girls as they take on Northern Kentucky University and Bellarmine University at 10:30 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:30 PM.

WKU Men and Women's Alumni Rugby Game a Success
Last Saturday on November 7, 2009 the Men and Women hosted the annual alumni rugby game. The women played first and the "Old Girls" ended up defeating the current team by five points. After the first game was over the men took the field and the current team ended up defeating the "Old Boys" 32 to 25. It was a high energy game filled with strength and determination.

Rugby Homecoming Game
Homecoming Week is here at Western Kentucky University and this Saturday the Men's and Women's Rugby Club will be celebrating. Starting at 10:00 A.M. the women will start their Alumni Game. It is the annual game of the current team versus the "Old Girls." then at Noon the men will be hosting the "Old Boys." There is to be a large crowd out at the Hattie L. Preston Intramural Sports Complex to cheer on both teams. Hope to see you there!
