Helping DODGE Cancer

Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive, and Dodge. As many of you know that is considered the five fundamental rules of Dodge Ball. But on Saturday Feburary 13, 2010 the W.K.U. Dodgeball Club had a much more important reason to play. The club hosted the first annual St. Jude Charity Dodgeball Tournament. The teams in this tournament were Western Kentucky University, Ohio State University, North Western State University of Louisiana, Miami University of Ohio and Kent State University of Ohio.
The tournament was sponsored by Amp Energy Drinks and P.N.C Bank. The Local Phi Gamma Delta Chapter(FIJI) were selling T-Shirts and collecting donations for St. Jude's and was organized by Assistant Captain of the W.K.U. Dodgeball Club Felix Perrone. The Dodgeball Club ended up raising a little over $1,000.00 for St. Jude's pediatric cancer research.
WKU played three games. The first game was against North Western State University and WKU won 4-1. Our second game was the championship against Ohio State where we ended up losing 3-1 giving Ohio State the first place in tournament and putting us in second. We then played an exhibition game against Kent State where we finished with the victory score of 3-1.
All in all it was a great time for all the teams. Even though everyone played to their best, the main purpose was just to have fun and raise some money for the children.
